Welcome.

Primarily, this is my portfolio of web development and design work, but it also has some of my other creative work. While my background is in architectural design, I enjoy the challenges of development (bug-hunting, anyone?) and the jigsaw puzzle of web layouts.

From architecture to web development? You better believe it.

Architecture has given me a solid foundation in understanding way-finding; users online need that same direction and support to find information easily, or to be pointed at what marketers would like them to do. Hopefully, when done thoughtfully, this happens with some joy and minimal frustration.

Balance, asymmetry, and visual interest are valuable principles I’ve transferred from using in art and architecture to my work on the web. Planning and mapping lends itself as familiarly to a site outline as it does to setting up a sewing pattern.

From planning and wireframing a user experience to coding/designing a UI, I’m familiar with digging into most aspects of a project’s development and life. Creating graphics, writing marketing text, cross-browser and QA testing and the other little details of pulling a project together are additional support skills that I have to put to use on any project.

Please enjoy as you look through the projects here, Rails, WordPress, art, or graphic design, and see for yourself how well these skills have served me.
